Do it now

Don’t “just do it”. Do it now. This is all the time you have. Don’t waste it. I can’t tell you the number of times my retired tourists have validated my decision to travel while I’m young. They’re happy to share that while they have enough money now to live comfortably and travel as they’d always imagined, their physical fitness keeps them from doing a lot of things they would have liked. Cobblestone streets and climbing staircases are not something to begin taking on when you’re 70.

As you age, you lose your tolerance for discomfort and too easily find excuses to just not do it. Add to that the statistic that many people die within the first few years of their retirement. The reality is that most people work hard and then stop living, whether it’s through death or a lack of initiative.

Yes, my friends, the time to travel is now. Not when you’re older. Not when your parents need you to be around to help care for them. Not when you can’t take on the physical and emotional challenges of travel.

Just quit your job. If you’re dependable and hardworking, there will always be work to come back to. If you’re worried about having enough money to retire, reconsider your lifestyle. Spend less, prioritize. If you have no interest in travel, then stick where you are. But, whatever you do, don’t wait until it’s too late.
