Meet Srs. Negrito and Blanco

We are doing a pet sit in Mexico City this week while the owner goes on vacation for Christmas.

Though they’re far apart in age, Blanco and Negrito act like best friends.

Christmas Dinner

We stopped in at one of my Mexico City favorites for dinner, Balcon de Zocalo. Joan ordered the filet, and I ordered the seasonal tasting menu.

Fried beef skin stuffed with avocado and topped with cilantro
Mennonite cheese stuffed with black mole, presented on a bed of bones
Filet mignon with creamy mashed potatoes and crispy mushrooms
Sweet blue corn tamale with hazelnut ice cream and chocolate ganache

Christmas in the Zocalo

The Zocalo is an open space of four blocks that is considered the center of Mexico. The buildings are always decorated over the top for Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone!

On our taxi ride home, we passed by a massive communications tower decorated as a Christmas tree.
