Ticuchi

Inside Ticuchi is a modern hip place, especially at night

Our Christmas dinner at Balcón del Zócalo was just one of many amazing culinary experiences we enjoyed during our one month stay in Mexico City. True, we had our fair share of burgers and lasagnas, because at some point tortilla based food gets redundant. However, we did stumble upon a couple places whose take on a tortilla stood out from others.

Ticuchi is the first place I’ve been where the flavors are on par with the presentation. The chef is from Oaxaca, and he uses traditional recipes and ingredients in his modern fare.

Lago Algo

An eagle keeps an eye on the bar at Lago Algo

Lago Algo, located on a lake in Chapultapec park, is the third high end lakeside restaurant located in the park and is the most modern of the three. It has the feel of an art gallery that plates food that is your own art piece to enjoy. I ate mine.

The name is creative too. It translates to “Lake Something” in English, which suggests no one actually knows the name of the lake. We enjoyed a relaxing breakfast on the lakeside setting before our walk back to the charming San Miguel Chapultapec neighborhood.

Lago Algo has the feel of a museum

I didn’t do any calculations so I don’t know if any of the world’s secrets are unveiled here.

We continue to enjoy the next generation of Mexican food as we explore Mexico, and our Gastronomic food tour of Puebla was just the beginning!
